  • E-ZPass texted me about a toll. Is it for real?

    NJ.com - September 14, 2024 - Tolls are a fact of life when you’re driving in New Jersey and in surrounding states.

    E-ZPass is supposed to make traveling through those tolls a little easier, even if you don’t have an E-ZPass account or transponder on your vehicle.

    But some unsuspecting motorists are falling for a scam to steal their private information.

  • Maine Turnpike Authority names new interim director following retirement of Peter Mills

    Spectrumlocalnews.com - September 9, 2024 - The Maine Turnpike Authority has named an interim executive director following the retirement of Peter Mills, who led the agency for 13 years.

    The authority board named Peter Merfeld, who has worked at the authority for 27 years, to the post. He has served as chief operations officer, a position in which he oversaw 165 turnpike employees.

    In May, an internal report about the inner workings at the turnpike authority described efforts by a former employee to threaten and intimidate workers who felt powerless to complain.

    The document, first obtained by the Portland Press Herald and posted to the newspaper’s website, detailed what it described as a “dysfunctional relationship.” Read more >>

  • Ontario County Clerk’s Office to begin selling E-ZPass devices

    Fingerlakes1.com - September 7, 2024 - Ontario County Clerk Jean Chrisman announced that her office will begin selling E-Z Pass devices starting Monday, September 9, 2024, following approval from the New York State Thruway Authority. The devices allow drivers to enjoy reduced tolls by automatically debiting toll transactions from their E-Z Pass account.

    “This is a service we’re excited to offer to our community,” said Chrisman. “It adds convenience for Ontario County residents.”

    E-Z Pass devices will be available during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for $25. Payments can be made by check, cash, or card. For more information, contact Clerk Chrisman at 585-396-4200 or via email at jean.chrisman@ontariocountyny.gov.

  • Virginia commission rejects proposed toll increase for Dulles Greenway

    Insidenova.com - September 5, 2024 - Drivers who use the Dulles Greenway will not have to pay higher tolls to use the privately owned 14-mile road after a proposed toll increase has been rejected by Virginia’s State Corporation Commission.

    The company that owns the Greenway — Toll Road Investors Partnership II, or TRIP II — had applied to raise tolls on two-axle vehicles from $5.80 to $8.10 during peak hours, and from $5.25 to $6.40 during off-peak hours. Read more >>

  • West Virginia Turnpike tolls to cost $4.50 starting in 2025

    wowktv.com - August 29, 2024 - Travelers going through the West Virginia Turnpike tolls will have to pay $4.50 starting in 2025, according to the West Virginia Parkways Authority.

    This new 5% increase will start on Jan. 1, 2025, according to Parkways Authority Executive Director Jeff Miller. He said this is the most the West Virginia legislature will allow every three years.

    Motorists are currently paying $4.25 to go through the tolls. You can also purchase an E-ZPass, which will be $27.50 starting on Jan. 1, 2025, to go through the tolls as many times as you want.

    Miller also said credit cards will be an accepted form of payment at toll booths as early as December 2024, but it could start in the early months of 2025.
