  • Researchers find dozens of fake E-ZPass toll websites after FBI warning

    Therecord.media - April 19, 2024 - Cybersecurity researchers have found almost 30 phishing websites spoofing the electronic toll collection service E-ZPass following an FBI warning last week.

    The FBI said in an alert that since early March the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) has received over 2,000 complaints reporting smishing texts impersonating road toll collection services from at least three states.

    Smishing is a social engineering attack using fake text messages to trick people into downloading malware, sharing sensitive information, or sending money. The complaints seen by the FBI indicate “the scam may be moving from state-to-state,” they said. Read more >>

    PATurnpike.com - April 7, 2024 - On Sunday afternoon, the PA Turnpike was advised of a phishing scam that is targeting E-ZPass account holders requesting personal financial information to settle outstanding toll amounts.

    The texts purport to be from “Pa Turnpike Toll Services” and center around urgent requests with your account that would result in a late fee if the balance does not get settled. Similar scams have been reported by toll agencies across the country over the past several days. Read more >>

  • VDOT explains why some saw $15 toll charge on I-64

  • MTA Approves Manhattan Congestion Pricing Plan

    Globest.com - April 1, 2024 - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has approved what it hopes will become the nation’s first congestion pricing system as early as the middle of June for the streets below 60th Street in Manhattan.

    The board of the MTA, which runs the subways and now will administer the new electronically monitored congestion tolls, voted 11-1 on March 27 to authorize the pricing structure. Read more>>

  • Congestion pricing in New York City expected to begin in June

    Landline.media - March 28, 2024 -  It’s official: New York City will be the first city in the United States to establish a congestion pricing program, assuming a federal court does not block the plan before it goes live.

    On Wednesday, March 27, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority board gave final approval for congestion pricing in New York City’s central business district.
